It is with great sadness that we reflect on the passing of our Life Member, John Evans, who sadly passed away recently.

Born on 24th March 1947, John enjoyed an exceptional sporting career, both on and off the bowling green. A talented sportsman, he also enjoyed a short career as a professional footballer before making his mark in the world of bowls, where his achievements would see him compete and succeed at the very highest level.

John's bowls career was one of considerable distinction. He proudly represented England, earning his first international cap in 1973, and went on to achieve success on the world stage. At the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, NZ, he secured a silver medal in the pairs, followed by further silver and bronze medals at the 1976 World Outdoor Bowls Championships in Johannesburg, SA.

His success continued at national level, with a notable victory in the National Triples in 1994. These achievements reflect not only John's exceptional ability, but also his dedication, competitive spirit and enduring passion for the sport.

As a Life Member of our club, John held a special place in its history. His contribution to bowls, both locally and internationally, is something of which we can all be proud. His sporting accomplishments helped shape a remarkable legacy, and his association with our club will be remembered with great respect and affection.

While his achievements on the green speak for themselves, John's passing is also a reminder of the people who make our club and our wider bowls community so special. He will be greatly missed, and remembered as a valued member of our club and a significant figure in the sport.

On behalf of everyone at the club, we extend our heartfelt condolences to John's family and friends at this very sad time.

Rest in peace, John. Thank you for the memories and the legacy you leave behind.
You will be sadly missed.
