Welcome to Torquay Bowling Club

Short Mat and Club Social Events – All you need to know

The Torbay Short Mat League will restart on Monday 10th January. Due to the prevalence of coughs and colds in the Bay a number of changes are being introduced. There will only be one mat  being played on at all venues. This will result in some games being moved to Tuesdays. All clubs will be informed of the revised fixtures. To limit the number of people present at each venue no spectators will be allowed and players should arrive no sooner than 15 minutes before the start of their game and leave immediately the game is over. Masks are to be worn except when a player is on the mat. Each club will be aware of the full list of requirements. It is hoped these are temporary measures and play will return to normal as soon as possible.

The club has decided to delay by a week the return of the Wednesday Leagues and Friday roll-ups. Hopefully these will return next week, that is Wednesday 12th January.

The Coffee Morning on 8th January has been cancelled. Our next Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday 5th February.

The Quiz Night on Friday 21stJanuary is still ON.

If any further changes are necessary we let you know. Please Stay Safe.

The Winter Season

Some bowls clubs shut down for the winter, but not us. There are plenty of opportunities to play Short Mat Bowls. On Monday evenings we have the Torbay Short Mat League. Wednesdays we have club Pairs and Triples competitions played in the afternoon and evening. The carpets are available on a Friday afternoon for roll-ups and practice.

We already have a number of indoor long mat games arranged throughout the winter at Oldway, the Derwent, Torquay United and Dawlish. Additional games are arranged throughout the winter.

On the social side we have monthly coffee mornings on the first Saturday of the month and a number of events are being arranged. Already on the menu is a Quiz Evening and the Club Lunch.

Details of all events can be found on the Events and Winter Fixtures pages and posted on the notice boards in the clubhouse.
