Coronavirus Latest (Last updated 28 March 11:45)
A letter was posted to all members on Thursday 26th March to update us all on the ongoing Caronavirus epidemic. The main points from the letter are shown below. If you haven’t received your copy by Monday 30th March and you want one then contact June.
We will only be bowling this summer if it is allowed by the relevant authorities. The MDL and SDLBL leagues have been cancelled for this year and will not be played under any circumstance. If the greens are opened for play later in the summer then Over 55s and RMTL games in the fixture list will be played as friendlies.
There will not be any National or County Competitions this summer. Entry fees will be rolled over 2021 unless an individual wishes to withdraw in which case the fee will be repaid.
Team competitions i.e. Grace Mathews, Interclub, Top Club, Foxlands and County Trophy are in abeyance. Further information can be found on Bowls England and Bowls Devon. You can use the links below to access them.
There will be no social events for the foreseeable future. This means the last Coffee Morning, Opening Day and Working Parties will not take place.
The green will be maintained but the Clubhouse and grounds are not open to members until further notice.
This will obviously affect the Clubs finances but be assured, the Club is financially stable
As circumstances change we will keep you informed here on the website
A big thank you to everyone who has registered their email address with us so we can communicate quickly and easily by email. We can now email eighty percent of our members. Not everyone uses email and that’s fine, we will still keep you informed. However if you would like to register please send an email to email@example.com and include your name if it is not obvious from your email address.
The English Riviera Open Bowls Tournament has been cancelled for 2020. Entry fees for 2020 already received will be carried forward to 2021. The Tournament will be played in 2021 between Sunday 20th and Saturday 26th June.

In view of the ongoing situation regarding Coronavirus whether bowling or not we advise:
Stay at home as much as possible, don’t socialise and keep 2 meters away from others when out
Regularly wash your hands and make use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers
Cough or sneeze into tissues which should then be binned
Don’t touch your face unless you have washed your hands
Self-isolate if you believe you have any symptoms or have been advised to do so
Do you know
The club are ordering club sweatshirts. These will be blue and embroidered with the club name in yellow and cost a very modest £12 each. If you are interested in buying one (or more) please contact June. Remember to tell her the size you want.
The Coasters do the double
After winning the Torbay Short Mat League Cup on Saturday 29th February at the Derwent, the Coasters, a team of current and former club members have gone on to win the Torbay Short Mat League. Well done to you all.
Congratulations to Ella
We all know that Ella Crouch had a very good summer. Well, she continues to do well indoors this winter. She is through to the final of the Devon County Under 21 Singles which were due to be played at the County Finals Day in Axminster on Sunday 19th April. Not surprisingly County Finals Day has fallen victim to Coronavirus and Finals Day will be rearranged when possible.
For 2020 the club’s charity is Devon Air Ambulance. There will be plenty of opportunities to donate to this great cause throughout the year.
