Short Mat League Competition

The short mat bowls league got underway in October, with eight teams from across the Bay taking part. It’s been another hugely enjoyable, and fiercely competitive season, with teams climbing the table one week and slipping the next as results swung back and forth.

Each side played 14 matches, meeting every opponent twice, once at home and once away. Cary Park held the top spot for much of the season but finished a very respectable third place after the final two rounds. With several teams separated by just a single point, it really was a tightly fought contest from start to finish.

However once again this year’s champions is The Coasters from Torquay Bowling Club, closely followed by The Killerwatts. Congratulations to all involved, on what has been a very exciting season.

The Cup Round

As we head into the New Year, our attention turns to the Cup Round, which will run until the end of March. In the Cup wins and losses matter less, and the accumulative bowls total becomes the focus, whilst a slightly different challenge, the competition is still front and centre and the fun is set to continue!
